new year, new look, new plans!

2012, are you finally here?! Whoa. I can’t not believe another year has flown by.

As I sit here watching a year in review on Inside Edition, I’m thinking about my own 2011. While it wasn’t riddled with half of the drama I just watched on tv, I definitely felt like I was “winning.” Tiger blood : )

For sure it was one awesome year, but I’ve got an even better one ahead- and I simply could not be more stoked about it. From a new website & blog to a new assistant and creative bff, this year couldn’t possibly commence in a better way. I love new beginnings, don’t you?

Let’s start out with a bang… my new assistant. YAY! So stoked about this and couldn’t have possibly asked for a better lady to join me in the wedding festivities. Meet Beth. She’s super sweet (if you know her, you’ll agree), she’s already got years of photo experience behind her, and oh yeah- she’s craft crazy. Like me :) Peanut butter and jelly? Yes we are!

I could ramble on forever about this girl.. RAMBLE ON!!( Zepplin .. Anyone? Anyone?) Is it normal to suddenly bust out in tune? Um yes. When you’re talking about the beginning of a brand new year. Yes, it’s completely normal.

I’ve had 5 cups of coffee. Can you tell? Don’t judge. ANYWAYS! Here’s Beth..

Wanna know more about her? Here’s a little something she wrote..

As a collaborator, admirer and client of Jessie, I’ve enjoyed every minute of working alongside this girl on various projects because of her constant creative energy, lovable honesty, and brilliant professionalism. So, when Jessie asked me to join her on this exciting adventure of hers, I couldn’t resist the opportunity. For nearly a decade, I’ve had the pleasure and honor of photographing so many wonderful people during some of the sweetest seasons of their lives. Becoming aware of the preciousness and brevity of life has made preserving both the pivotal and mundane moments even more alluring for me. Capturing the excitement, joy, tenderness and a thousand other emotions on the faces of individuals and couples during these times is one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve known and one that I’m deeply passionate about. Having dabbled in several art mediums throughout the years, I’ve gained experience in bringing various ideas to life and that process continues to ignite my creative spirit. I love combining that with photography by taking real life moments, discovering their true creative potential and bringing that to the surface. There’s nothing like the look of surprise and pleasure on someone’s face when they are able to see themselves through your eyes in an unexpected way that continually takes them back to the emotion and beauty of the moment you were able to capture for them.I’m excited to join Jessie in her fun-filled endeavor and can’t wait to see where it takes us. I hope you’ll let us join you in your own journey, and let us capture it as it unveils!

She probably looks familiar if you’re a blog follower. You may have seen her in this post earlier rocking it out with her hubby Lex. Here’s a photo from their session..

In addition to shooting, Beth also shares a craft business with Ms. Melissa Spaulding. You should so check out their stuff. I have a pair of earrings that I practically sleep in I love them so much. I’m like that kid who won’t take off their Halloween costume for weeks after the special trick-or-treating day is over. Superman for life. That’s how I feel about their stuff- permanently stuck to my body when I put it on. Wanna see what I mean? Check out their Sparrow’s Eave Facebook page. Trust me, you will l-o-v-e it!

I’ve attached some photos of their things below. I’ll take one of each, please and thank you!

Shew, I’m typing so fast I’m breaking a sweat already.

On to the next one.. Her name’s Emaleigh. We call her Em. She’s our new intern and we’re so excited to have a new one join our team. She’ll be working on some weddings and assisting us with different shoots. She goes to CHS and she’s all about learning the ins and outs of being behind the lens. That’s my kinda gal.

The best part? She’s only a junior, and I’m excited to keep her around for a while. Call me selfish, but I just can’t get enough of her fervor to learn and sweet disposition.

Here she is.. Ms. Em and a little about her.

Since I was around the age of thirteen, I have been so intrigued and fascinated by photography. Wanting to know more about the subject, I spent countless hours on the internet looking up photos that absolutely took my breath away. Ever since then, I’ve always wanted to take pictures that would hold a moment in time, blossom an old memory, or maybe even take someone’s breath away like so many did mine. I became much more serious with photography about a year ago—bringing my camera with me everywhere, making my sisters be my temporary models when I saw a moment I just hadto capture. I haven’t put down my camera since then.
When I got the call from Jessie saying she wanted to have me as an intern, I was absolutely thrilled. She is such a free spirited, fun person, and I can’t to see what 2012 brings while working with her and Beth. :)

Okay, obviously these two ladies are at the top of my “reasons to squeal like a girl in 2012”. Bah-humbug with the New Year’s resolutions. Give me a list of what I should be super stoked about and we’re golden. I’d rather celebrate than crack the whip any day. Who’s with me?!

Another reason on my lengthy list.. New friends and New projects.

New friends- Al Hammond and Matthew Phillips of Awaken. Attn all brides to be: these guys are awesome! You should so check them out. They rock it out at weddings, and they also have an edge for creative flair in commercial work. More on that in a moment.

New Projects- We are so super pumped that we were asked to shoot the 2012 Lenny & Eva catalog. Again, another product that stays on me constantly. If you’ve never hear of L&E, check them out here. The wide cuffs are some of my favorites, and I’m constantly rocking out one out with my sentiment of choice. I just gave my mother several of their products and I think I may have peaked with Christmas buying for her. I don’t know how I’m going to top it next year. My sisters are the same way. I love spreading the Lenny & Eva love.

In addition to styling the catalog session and shooting it, we also got to work with Al and Matthew as they began their journey on creating one awesome video introducing the new products for L&E this year.

Well, don’t take my word for it.. you’ve gotta see this for yourself. Check out the new Lenny & Eva website to see the video and some of the photos from the catalog shoot.

I’m so excited about the release of the catalog this year, and equally as stoked to be blogging the images. I’ll be sharing all the boho, fringe, scarf goodness in the near future. Wanna read more about this shoot? Check out L&E blog post I wrote up for just that.

Moving along….

Yeah, keeping that upbeat pace.

Well, we’ve rebranded. I’m kind of in love with everything branding, and I couldn’t have been happier with the way these designs turned out. As you can see from the header of this blog, it’s all about free-spirited goodness and simplicity. I like simple things. Like sweet tea and mason jars. Barefoot afternoons on the porch with BD. Is the southern girl in me showing? Perfect.

Along with a new design, we’ve got a new website which will be released tomorrow! I wanted to break us out of the norm and create something all our own! After many sleepless nights and pots of coffee, I’m all finished! Yay for spicing it up. I once heard variety is the spice of life…. hmm.. I’d say so.

Now onto another HUGE reason to squeal: so in love with booking all these 2012 weddings. We were at the Enchanted bridal show on Janurary 5 at the Hutton hotel and January 15 at the Magic Moments bridal show at the high school in Cookeville,TN. We were handing out lots of goodies and spreading all the new year cheer. Like invisible confetti all over the place. Wedding frenzy confetti. I love reasons to celebrate. Especially ones that involve the exchanging of rings : )

Do you have a reason to celebrate this wedding season, bride-to-be? We’d love to get you more info! Shoot us an email.

And for all the other readers.. married, single, brunette, blonde, tall, short, extroverted, introverted, purple, or blue (is there a smurf in the crowd?!)- whomever you may be:

Thank you for your continued love and support. I am positive I would not be where I am today  without all of your kind words and photo love. I never knew it would become a legit business, and I get teary just thinking about what a different place I am in with not only my camera but the people I have around me. From my best girlfriends  to my new 2012 brides, it’s been one crazy ride. It started out as a hobby, and became something bigger than I ever could have imagined.

I’ve gotten knocked down, I’ve cried, I’ve laughed, I’ve jumped so high off the floor that I thought I would hit my head on my old loft apartment, I’ve been in the dumps and I’ve celebrated like there was no tomorrow. I’ve grown. I’ve started over. I’ve laughed it off. I’ve smirked at hurtful comments and actually grown because of it. I’m so thankful for that. Without the tough stuff, I wouldn’t be here right now.

To all creatives out there: Quit comparing yourself. You’re you and that’s what awesome is. Keep doing your thing and it will only lead to better work… sending postive vibes never gets old.

I can’t believe a new year is beginning with 365 more days to get to meet new people and challenge myself.. life simply couldn’t be sweeter right now. I am overjoyed with everything 2012, and if all the exclamation points and such didn’t give it away….

HEY YOU, 2012: I’M GLAD YOU’RE HERE!!!!!!!!! Out with the old & in with the new.
