With this spring weather, I just get super giddy. It’s the warm breeze, pretty sunshine, and my favorite pair of flops that puts me in the best mood.

I feel like dancing. I just might. It’s that good ole feeling that’s just ticklin’ my bones today.

It’s time for an engagement blog post. You know how I feel about my esessions. In the words of Rachel Zoe, I kind of die for them. In my own words, I lay it all out for you here. To me, engagement sessions are just the icing on the wedding cake. If you’re like me, give me the big ole corner piece. Extra icing puhleeaaasseee. I’d like to go into sugar shock, and in sessions like that one below- I just might. Too sweet for words, these two are.

Tom & Jessica agreed to meet me at sunrise to avoid an afternoon promising lots of rain and gloomy weather. When they said they were up for anything, including throwing their feet out of bed at 5 am, I was stoked. Morning light is something else. It’s so beautiful to shoot in, and I could not wait to get these two out in the early hours.

I think morning light first stole my heart during Chris & Morgen’s Valentine’s Day engagement session. These two agreed to early sunrise as well, and I was just ecstatic about the images we captured.

So excited to shoot Tom & Jessica’s wedding this summer. It’s going to be awesome. Love some awesome peeps in wedding wear.

Jordan & Jillian | Engagement Session | Dickson, TN | Nashville Wedding Photographer

Jordan & Jillian. Double J’s. And Jessie. Trifecta!

I joked about this to them when we first met. I do love letters in common. It was my years of Sesame Street and my adoration of the big bubble letters my mom sewed for my childhood room. Gotta love a little backstory.

Today’s post is another engagement session featuring these j-squared lovebirds.

When these two told me we would be shooting at location that had a silo and vintage/rustic appeal, I was floored. Like pedal to the metal, I was ready to shoot this engagement session right then and there (you know how much I love my engagement sessions!). Needless to say, silos are always fun to shoot, and anything rustic is of course amazing.

When I arrived at the location in Dickson, I was already roarin’ to go. See, on my drive there I couldn’t help looking around me. The fog was beautiful- literally breathtaking in some places. The way it hung over the bare Tennessee trees had some dreamy quality to it. Something ethereal.

I have never shot in fog. This was a first. I’m an adventurer through and through, and this day was going to be one for my photo books. I texted Jillian before I left my house, exclaiming about the fog and my overall giddiness about what was in store. We exchanged too many smileys and exclamation points to count.

As prepped as I was for the awesomeness before I arrived, I was still overwhelmed with it all. My visual delight was heightened.

But it wasn’t just this cute couple or the beautiful land that had me loving everything- it was this adorable old man who accompanied us on our esession excursion. He had to be in his eighties, but not one year over seventeen at heart.

As we walked through the home-grown Southern landscape, he chatted it up with us (the J-trifecta) while we discovered what he had to show us. He told us about growing up and how things have changed so much. It’s a funny thing, really. The older I get, the more I appreciate hearing an elderly soul share their stories. It’s like warm soup or that much-needed cup of joe, it warms my heart in such a way. This fellow was no different. I enjoyed him to bits.

I think it’s obvious to see why I liked him so much.

He reminded me of family- meeting people like that is priceless.

Jordan & Jillian are just as near and dear to my heart after this session as the fellow above. These two are like peanut butter and jelly. So adorable and so perfect together. I am stoked to be shooting their wedding on May 26. We are going to have blast!

Matt & Jenny | Engagement Session | Nashville Wedding Photographer

So today’s post is all about some engagement pleasantries. If you’re a blog friend ‘o mine, you know that I love love LOVE my esessions, like right down to the core. When it comes to celebrating a ring and a big day to plan, I’m all about documenting it. New to the ole bloggity blog? Check out my post on why I love them so much. After reading it, you might just be down to agree. They are a must for brides, for sure.

I met Matt & Jenny at one of their friend’s property. As I drove up the winding gravel road that was lined with trees, I started getting excited. Then I passed the gazebo strung with hanging lights. Then the barn drooping with age (so beautifully, might I add!). I was starting to officially get stoked.

And then I saw the house. Ohhhhh the house. If objects could speak, this place was just begging me to shoot all around it. The green shutters and the brick walkway were framed by authentic stacked stone fences that were slowly being enveloped with moss- ombré shades of green that had me weak at the knees. Ombré does something to my soul.

As if it couldn’t get any better? Matt & Jenny hopped out of their cars with their pups in tow. Her- in her grandmother’s white coat and he- in plaid. Another speaker to my soul: plaid.

You might think that was the kicker. The thing that made this shoot skyrocket from better to “oh-golly-gee I can’t wait!” Oh no. It gets better. This esession was like an onion. Infinite layers of awesome.

You see, they drove two cars. It befuddled me at first. Why ride separate on this uber-awesome day of love?

Jenny smiled widely when she explained the props wouldn’t fit in one car. She had books, and blankets, and her grandmother’s old carpet bag, and outfits, and everything vintage that fluttered my heart.

Oh Jenny, where have you been all my life?!? ; )

This whole session was fab. From meeting their kiddos (a.k.a doggies) to photographing inside this charming home, I was loving everything I was seeing. My eyeballs were freaking out. Truth.

I’m just tickled to be sharing.

These are absolutely gorgeous! I am blown away at how perfectly you have captured their love and adoration for each other. I am so happy my son has found the woman of his dreams and that she loves him all the way to the moon and back!

So excited to post Tay’s solo session today! Best way to start the week– anything pictures is just about perfect.

I shot Tay a couple weeks ago, and besides having an absolute blast- we got to play in the pretty sunlight and giggle like kids as we ran around this old house in Franklin and snapped away.

Zack & Morgan | Engagement | Knoxville | Tennessee Wedding Photographer

She said she worked at J.Crew as she fixed Zack’s tie that so sweetly coordinated with their second outfit. I paused. I love my couples. This little fashion detail had me swooning. The reason being? This adorable lady had picked out some stylish threads, and Zack was so handsomely rockin’ her selections. How sweet. You better watch out.. this girl’s got a big heart and it’s about to pop over anything that involves love and outfits. What a combo. I can’t take it.

Despite being fashion perfect, these two were all giggles. I’m a laugh-aholic myself, and it was fun to be in similar company. They were beaming. The trifecta for this session was freakin’ sweet. The couple. The outfits. The locations. Ooohhh the locations..

If you haven’t been to the Knoxville Arboretum, it’s a must-see. From the beautiful greenery to the gorgeous stacked stone walls, this place is one for the photo books. All this sweet stuff had me nodding my head about how much I love my engagement sessions. Check out the link here to see why I think they totally rock.

My favorite part? We got to wrap up their session at Crescent Bend where they have chosen to celebrate their May 19th wedding. I kind of gawked a little when we waltzed up to the place… the white house had me at hello. The backyard with the countless stairs and the patterned lawn? It was landscaping heaven. They walked me through where their ceremony would be and the works. Morgan and I squealed like girls about all the special details that would make their day truly unique.

I simply can not wait for their spring wedding. Until then.. some engagement photos of this pretty pair.
